Asian Gallery (Toyokan) Room 8
September 21, 2022 (Wed) - November 13, 2022 (Sun)
Every autumn, the Museum holds a thematic exhibition highlighting works from our collection of Chinese painting and calligraphy. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and China as well as the 150th anniversary of the Tokyo National Museum. To commemorate these events, this year’s exhibition features works that Japanese people have particularly admired over the centuries and date mainly from the Northern Song (960–1127) and Southern Song (1127–1279) dynasties. Works from later periods are also included to illustrate the impact of these earlier works.
