2022 is the Year of the Tiger. To celebrate the New Year, we will hold a thematic exhibition featuring works of art with tiger motifs, display selected masterpieces, and more.Have a wonderful start to the New Year at the Tokyo National Museum!

Japanese Gallery (Honkan) Room T1 & T2
To celebrate the Museum’s 150th anniversary and the year of the tiger, we’ll be sharing artworks with this ferocious animal.
Tigers can be found in art throughout Asia. Here we’ll explore how people imagined and depicted them, and what kind of symbolic meaning they had.

We recommend that you purchase a timed-entry ticket online before your visit. Tickets may also be purchased at the ticket counter, but you may be asked to wait if the exhibition is crowded. Also, please be aware that tickets are limited and may sell out.
