Cultural Exchange Day for Foreign Students 2006 Come and learn more about Japanese Traditional Culture and Art!
The Cultural Exchange Day is designed for students studying in Japan from foreign countries to enjoy and deepen their understanding about Japanese art and culture.
On Saturday, November 11, 2006, foreign students will be admitted
free to all regular exhibitions of the Honkan (Japanese Gallery), Toyokan (Asian Gallery), Heiseikan (Japanese Archaeology Gallery), the Gallery of Horyuji Treasures and the Hyokeikan (current student ID required upon entrance) . Our garden will be open to the public on the day for visitors to enjoy autumnal views.
There will be special programs for foreign students, such as lectures, docent tours and tea ceremony experiences (programs are mainly held in Japanese.)
Come and join us for the events and learn more about Japanese culture!

 Current Regular Exhibitions
Honkan (Japanese Gallery)
Enjoy the beauty of Japanese art.
The chronological exhibition "Highlights of Japanese Art" on the second floor provides a general overview of Japanese art history. Genre Galleries on the first floor consist of exhibitions divided according to types of works such as sculpture, ceramics, and lacquerware.

* English speaking volunteer guides will be presented at "Highlights of Japanese Art"(room3, room5, room7, room9 and room10) from 12:30 to 15:00.
Toyokan (Asian Gallery)
Explore art from Asian countries.
10 exhibition rooms on three floors are dedicated to art and antiquities of Asia, including those from China, the Korean peninsula, Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East, and Egypt.
Heiseikan (Japanese Archaeology)
In the Archaeology Gallery, visitors can view the Japanese history through the archaeological objects from several thousand B.C. up to the late 19th century.
The Gallery of Horyuji Treasures
Introducing ancient art from more than 300 items of the Horyuji Treasures, a collection of Buddhist art treasures originally donated to the Imperial family by Horyuji temple.
Hyokeikan
