From around the 4th century, miniature stone models were interred with the dead in burial mounds. Not intended for practical use, they were made of relatively soft stone such as steatite and imitated a wide range of items. This exhibit attempts to unveil details about people’s lives and the tools they used in the Kofun period (ca. 3rd–7th century) through these miniature stone models.
