Insects and flowers have been a painting subject in China since the 12th century. These paintings in rich colors were mainly produced by anonymous professional artists until the 17th century. From this century, the genre also became popular with amateur literati artists. In this exhibition, we are displaying paintings of insects and flowers from the 13th to the 20th century, revealing the genre’s long and rich history.
