Dr. Hayashi Munetake (1923–2006) was a businessman and collector born into the distinguished Lin Benyuan family in Taiwan.
He collected around 1000 works of calligraphy and painting from the Ming dynasty (1368–1644) to the modern period. During his lifetime he donated these works to the Tokyo National Museum, the National Palace Museum in Taipei, and the Kuboso Memorial Museum of Arts in Izumi, Osaka Prefecture.
With 83 works of calligraphy and 140 paintings, these works now make up a major part of the Chinese calligraphy and painting collection of the Tokyo National Museum.
