    As 2014 is the year of the horse, this exhibition displays artworks and decorative art objects featuring horse-themed designs, as well as excellent examples of horse equipment. Tokyo National Museum wishes all its visitors a happy and prosperous year.

    Room T1 in this exhibition displays items such as equestrian equipment excavated from burial mounds, Buddhist paintings depicting horses, statues of deities and Buddhist figures with the heads of horses, as well as a Tang-dynasty pottery horse from China with three-color glaze.

    Room T2 in this exhibition displays horse-themed works of art and decorative art. These works include a Hasegawa Tohaku screen painting, a saddle and stirrups reportedly used by the 16th-century warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and decorative art objects with horse designs.
