Autumn Special Viewing: As a Way of Saying “Thank You”

This autumn at the Tokyo National Museum, in its 140th year, we are holding events and thematic exhibitions of masterpieces, all as a show of our appreciation. In a special two-week period, together with our visitors we will highlight the history of this museum, a place that has been supported by many people.

Thematic Exhibition
We are displaying donated masterpieces as a way of expressing our gratitude to all the people who have donated items to the museum, together with saying “Thank you” to our visitors.

Events
September 21 (Fri), 2012, is Special Thanks Day at the Tokyo National Museum. The museum will be open until 22:00, and there will be events including live music for the museum’s 140th ANNIVERSARY “J-WAVE MUSIC CELEBRATION”.

This is a collaborative event between Tokyo National Museum and J-WAVE (81.3 FM).
Details of the live music is posted on the J-WAVE website (in Japanese).

Come to the Museum in Kimonos

 Beauty Looking Back In the period, September 15 (Sat)–30 (Sun), 2012, visitors to the Tokyo National Museum who are wearing kimonos will receive 100 yen off from the admission fee to the regular exhibitions.

Visitors take photos on a first-come first-served basis (36 time slots each day, reserve your time slot on the day).

* Persons with disability and one person accompanying them are admitted free of charge.
* Regular admission is free for persons under 18 and over 70. Please show proof of age (driver's license, passport, etc.) when entering.
