This jar was used to store tea leaves for use during tea gatherings. It features a silver moon, tarnished over the centuries, illuminating a blooming plum tree enveloped in golden mist. With gorgeous designs like this, the studio of Ninsei introduced an unprecedented level of decorative brilliance to Kyoto pottery in the mid-1600s.
