    In 1955, a classification of "Living National Treasures" was started in order to recognize the accomplishments of individuals or organizations in transmitting traditional techniques in a variety of fields such as lacquerware, dyeing and weaving, metalwork, and pottery. The exhibit introduces items by the "Living National Treasures" from the Museum's collection.
