Information on Play Space at the Tokyo National Museum (2024)
Here at the Tokyo National Museum, you can get in touch with Japanese culture through items created and treasured by people long ago, known as “cultural properties.” This space offers various experiences that anyone can enjoy before and after viewing these cultural properties.
Also available: downloadable coloring sheets for activities at home with designs of kimonos from the Museum collection.
This exhibition features various contents including videos introducing Japanese culture and digital timeline of Japanese art. This is a space to enjoy the cultural heritage passed down through history.
This space is for educational displays and activities, such as "Let's Rotate Artworks at TNM," a hands-on space where you can rotate 3D images of artworks as you like.
Fortune telling was an important part of people’s lives in Asian countries throughout history. This space offers some examples of Asian fortune telling.
The exhibition has “hands-on” areas where visitors can ring the reproduction of an ancient bronze bell.
Please use public transportation.
Park exit of JR Ueno Station or the South exit of JR Uguisudani Station are the most convenient. Tokyo Metro and Keisei line Ueno stations are far from the museum entrance and the route from these stations include stairs and steps. Please check the timing and route before your visit.
