    December 8, 2020 (Tue) - February 14, 2021 (Sun)

The Museum’s Hyokeikan building was built in celebration of the wedding of the then Crown Prince Yoshihito (later Emperor Taishō; r. 1912–1926), which took place on May 10, 1900. It was a “wedding gift” to be dedicated to the Crown Prince, and voluntary donations for its construction were received from over 20,000 people in Japan, most of whom were Tokyo residents.

This exhibition sheds light on part of Hyokeikan’s construction process mainly through relevant extant material, which includes the building’s basic architectural plans such as floor plans, elevations, and cross sections, as well as photographs.
