From the Kamakura period onward, imported artworks from China were treasured as Karamono and were prized as decor and utilities at tea ceremonies. Higashiyama Gomotsu, once owned by the Third Ashikaga Shogun Yoshimitsu, is a group of especially prestigious Karamono represented by Liang Kai's triptych. This exhibit commemorates the designation of Liang Kai's triptych as National Treasure, and features Karamono masterworks.
