The term yamato-e refers to Japanese-style paintings that were created throughout history, reflecting the tastes of each period. Yamato-e depict seasonal scenery, daily life, and scenes from various stories.
Held in conjunction with the special exhibition Yamato-e: Traditions of Beauty from the Imperial Court (October 11–December 3, 2023), this exhibition features yamato-e created between the 16th and the 19th century. The yamato-e of this time combined established traditions with new aesthetic trends, achieving a noticeable refinement. The exhibition also includes related works of calligraphy.
