April 25, 2023 (Tue) - June 4, 2023 (Sun)
Around the turn of the twentieth century, artists in China were faced with the dilemma how to carry on one of the oldest painting traditions of their country: the landscape. Amidst great social changes and the country’s modernization, Chinese painters explored new forms of expression in different ways, from exhibiting their works at public exhibitions, studying and teaching at art schools, and studying abroad in Europe and Japan. This exhibition introduces the innovative landscapes created by these artists during the modern era.
