Japanese Gallery (Honkan) Room 14
March 23, 2022 (Wed) - May 15, 2022 (Sun)
In connection with Tokyo National Museum’s 150th anniversary, this exhibition presents select works from our permanent collection of Southeast Asia ceramics.
These include ceramics acquired by Japanese diplomats, businessmen, and collectors who travelled to Southeast Asia in the late 19th and first half of the 20th centuries, and ceramics collected as reference materials for research.
The exhibition traces the history of ceramics research in modern Japan while illuminating the value and beauty of the works on display.
