Kyōgen is classical comedic theater that takes inspiration from daily life in the Muromachi period (1392–1573). Kyōgen plays mimic interactions between humans, gods, and natural phenomena. The actors wear costumes dyed in flamboyant patterns and sometimes don masks with humorous expressions. We invite you to imagine the lively dialogue of the characters through these kyōgen masks and costumes.
