October 12, 2005 (Wed) - November 27, 2005 (Sun)This exhibit features Japanese and Chinese books transcribed between the Nara (710-794) through the Muromachi periods(1392-1573). Certain books exist in different versions, which is a result of a long history of transcription and ownership.

Engishiki (detailed rules of the Ritsuryo Statute), Heian period, 11th century (National Treasure)
