Lecture: “Discover the Charms of Wagashi in English”

The tea ceremony is a representative example of traditional Japanese culture.
Wagashi (Japanese sweets) play a central role in the ceremony alongside matcha green tea.
The sweets served in the tearoom are carefully selected to match the season or occasion, with guests enjoying both their appearance and taste.

This event will be held in tandem with the renovation of Tokyo National Museum’s Regular Exhibition “The Art of Tea Ceremony” (Japanese Gallery (Honkan) Room 4), which reopened in January.
It will feature a video introducing wagashi (English version: produced by TORAYA Confectionery; approx. 25 minutes) and lectures with Japanese-to-English interpretation, so foreign visitors can also learn about the wide appeal of Japanese sweets.
Reservations can be made on the day and everyone is welcome to join!
