Photos and reproductions that provide information frequently appear in the display of archaeological objects as important materials for deepening our understanding of historical ruins and artifacts. These records held by the Tokyo National Museum are evidence of how artists, artisans and archaeologists continued efforts to "preserve" cultural properties by repeatedly "copying and creating." In this sense, the materials on display are a precious resource that tells a story of the relationship between archaeology and art at museums.
