Features of the Heiseikan

  • The building can become crowded during special exhibitions and events because the special exhibition gallery is on the second floor and the auditorium is on the first floor. It is relatively empty when no exhibitions or events are being held. There are no seats in the exhibition rooms, but seating is available in the hallways and the lounge. Vending machines are located in the lounge, where eating and drinking are allowed. No sensory map is available for the second floor, as conditions change depending on the exhibition.

[Sound information]

  • It will become noisy when it gets crowded, as the high ceiling causes sounds to echo in some places. Faint sounds can be heard from the air-conditioning and other equipment. Regular and special announcements are made through speakers installed throughout the building.

[Light information]

  • To protect the artworks, the exhibition rooms are kept dimly lit. However, brightness varies according to the room, as the lighting is adjusted to suit each exhibit. The entrance and lounge receive natural light, which creates a bright environment. There are digital displays in some places in the building.
