Call for Donations to Support the Affected People in the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake

On April 14, 2016 at around 9:26 pm, the Kyushu region was struck by a 6.4 magnitude earthquake. An extremely high level of seismic intensity, rated 7, was recorded at the town of Mashiki, Kumamoto Prefecture.

The earthquake caused severe damage to Mashiki and other parts in the Kumamoto and Oita Prefectures, and the regions still face intermittent aftershocks.

We express our deepest sympathies to those affected in the current disaster.

Tokyo National Museum has begun to collect donations to support the suffering people and regions. We would appreciate your kind support and generosity.

Your donations will be sent as an expression of sympathy through the Japanese Red Cross Society to the local authorities supporting the victims and evacuees.
