This illustrated scroll recounts the achievements of the buddhist priest Wonhyo (617–685), who is shown curing the queen’s illness and lecturing about the Vajrasamadhisutra, an apocryphal Buddhist scripture composed in 7th-century Korea. The set is thought to have been created by a person associated with Myōe, a Japanese buddhist priest of the Kegon sect who revived Kōsanji temple in Kyoto.
