September 21, 2022 (Wed) - March 12, 2023 (Sun)Daianji Temple is one of the most prominent temples constructed in the Heijo Capital in modern-day Nara Prefecture. With its extensive temple complex, which was considerably larger than today, the temple had strong ties to Japan’s ancient government. The temple’s roof tiles comprise three types: those that were made exclusively for Daianji Temple; those that feature the same designs as the tiles used for the temple’s precursor; and those that were also used for the other buildings in the Heijo Capital.
