Tokyo National Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston will jointly organize the exhibition Elegant Perfection: Masterpieces of Courtly and Religious Art from the Tokyo National Museum (Sunday, February 19 - Sunday, April 8, 2012) to commemorate the opening of a permanent gallery dedicated to Japanese art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
Starting from July 1 through September 22, 2011, Tokyo National Museum will curtail electricity usage as mandated by the Japanese government to attain 15% reduction during peak of demand.

To support the people affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, we have donated our admission fees gained during March 29 - April 3, 2011 and fundings through the donation boxes at the museum to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
During this period, with our shortened opening hours from 10:00 to 4:00pm at the Honkan Japanese galleries along with the archaeology galleries and thematic exhibition room at Heiseikan, we were able to donate a total of 1,686,038 yen. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude for your generous contributions.
