The Kofun period (ca. 3rd–7th century) saw thriving exchanges between maritime peoples who lived by trading and fishing. This history is reflected in the voluminous burial goods excavated from graves hidden behind rocks in coastal areas. This section of the gallery features examples of the particularly bounteous goods found in caves in the southern Kantō region.
