Japanese Archaeology and Special Exhibition (Heiseikan) Thematic Exhibition Room
    September 4, 2018 (Tue) - October 28, 2018 (Sun)

From the 19th to the 20th century, as transportation by sea and air between Asia, Europe, and the United States was further developed, the Museum dispatched staff for overseas research and entrusted individuals from related institutions who were travelling abroad with surveys and the acquisition of various materials. The photographs by Hayasaki Kokichi on view for this thematic exhibition were added to the Museum’s collection as a result of one of these surveys. The exhibition also includes photographs by Tsukamoto Yasushi and Sekino Tadashi of Tokyo University, introducing visitors to scenery in China from 100 years ago.
