Japanese Gallery (Honkan) Rooms T1 & T2
January 2, 2018 (Tue) - January 28, 2018 (Sun)
2018 is the year of "man's best friend" ? the dog. Canines are the earliest domesticated animals and have influenced the cultures of different ethnic groups throughout the world.
This exhibition will explore the relationship between dogs and humans through artworks displayed under two themes. The first, "Dogs in Different Shapes," will take a close look at the forms of canines, from adorable puppies beloved by the Japanese to what were considered unusual foreign breeds.
The second, "Dogs and People," will explore the cultural significance of relationships between dogs and humans throughout history.
