Asian Gallery (Toyokan) Room 5
August 30, 2016 (Tue) - February 26, 2017 (Sun)
Here we present a number of exquisite articles from the Shanghai Museum's collection of Chinese ceramics.
From the pottery of the Northern Song dynasty, renowned as the most beautiful and sophisticated of ceramics, to the splendid and sophisticated blue and white ware, and Wucai ( “five colors” ) porcelain from the Jingdezhen imperial kilns of the Ming and Qing dynasties, the items in this exhibit have significance not often encountered in Japanese collections.
We invite visitors to savor the millennium of ceramics from Tang to Qing, as you enjoy the outstanding masterpieces from the Tokyo National Museum and Shanghai Museum.
