Call for Presentations

The International Symposium “Japanese Art Collections Abroad: Their Significance and Use” (January 30-31, 2016) will bring together Japanese art specialists from within and outside of Japan to discuss the current state of Japanese art collections in the U.S. and Europe as well as their effective utilization. The second day of the symposium will include presentations of case studies and research reports, which will serve to encourage further discussion and interaction between participants. Interested individuals are invited to submit proposals following the guidelines below.

Content

Proposed case studies and research reports must relate to the theme of the symposium. Only original and unpublished material will be considered.

Duration

20 minute presentation followed by 10 minutes for Q&A

Language

English or Japanese (Simultaneous interpretation will be provided)

Facilities

An overhead projector and a Windows laptop with Powerpoint will be available at the venue

Eligibility

Curators, including assistant/associate curators, and staff in the curatorial section with less than 10 years of experience at their respective museums.
Note: The cost of three nights' hotel accommodations will be covered for presenters from outside Japan.

Deadline

December 15, 2015 (Tue)
The committee will review proposals and notify the selected presenters by the end of this year.
