Tokyo National Museum will re-open from Tuesday, March 29, 2011.
Tokyo National Museum has been temporarily closed due to the East Japan Earthquake, but we will reopen our Honkan (Japanese galleries) and Heiseikan (Japanese archaeology and thematic exhibition room) from Tuesday, March 29, 2011 for limited hours, from 10:00am to 4:00pm (last entry 3:30pm).
This is for the reason of energy conservation and the limited operation of public transportation services.

From Tuesday, March 29 to Sunday, April 3, 2011, all entrance fees from visitors will be donated to the people affected by the East Japan Earthquake disasters through the Japanese Red Cross Society. Donation boxes will be placed at the Main Gate, Honkan, and Heiseikan to collect funds for the people affected by the disasters. These will be also donated through the Japanese Red Cross Society.

Please note that for a period of time, opening dates and hours will possibly change without prior notice. We advise our visitors to check this website before your visit to the museum.
We sincerely appreciate your cooperation under this inconvenience.
