December 12, 2023 (Tue) - June 23, 2024 (Sun)In the Jōsō region in present-day Ibaraki and Chiba Prefectures near Tokyo, a custom of burying the deceased with a stone headrest decorated with flower-shaped stone ornaments prevailed during the mid-Kofun period. This section of the gallery introduces such funerary rites unique to the Jōsō region through steatite headrests and flower-shaped ornaments for those headrests.
