The An'yōji Sutra Mounds consist of three confirmed mounds, including the unintentional discovery of the first mound in 1937. A variety of objects have been unearthed from the first sutra mound: 208 tablets with sutra text, tablets with engraved images, stupa-shaped square rods with inscriptions, a ceramic stupa, small glass beads, and a cypress fan.
