The genre of ukiyo-e is divided into prints and paintings, with this exhibition featuring a superb example of the latter: Beauty Looking Back by Hishikawa Moronobu. Additionally, the history of ukiyo-e will be traced through works by Suzuki Harunobu from the time when multi-colored prints were invented, depictions of beauties by Kitagawa Utamaro from the “Golden Age” of ukiyo-e, and series of landscape prints by Utagawa Hiroshige and Katsushika Hokusai, respectively, from the late Edo period in the 19th century. Works with charming depictions of autumn will also be included.
