The renovation and renewal of galleries and other museum facilities both in Japan and abroad has been a major topic of conversation in recent years.
At this symposium, experts from museums in Japan and abroad will gather to discuss recent renovations of Japanese art galleries and the challenges they entail. The discussion will also encompass the questions of what an exhibition of Japanese art should achieve, whether it should present objects as artworks or cultural artifacts, and how these objects can be displayed for the public. The symposium will offer participants a rare opportunity to explore these questions and seek answers on an international scale.
