New Year's Celebration at the Tokyo National Museum
Open from January 2 !
It's time for the New Year's celebration at the Tokyo National Museum! We will display the National Treasure Pine Trees by Hasegawa Tohaku, artworks with roosters (2017 is the Year of the Rooster), and ones with auspicipus themes such as cranes and Mount Fuji. We will be ready to greet you with this display, which is perfect for the New Year. Flower arrangements and traditional performances, including lion dances and drum ensembles will add to the festivities. Come to the Tokyo National Museum for the celebration!

Four of Kuroda Seiki’s masterpieces – Woman Reading, Maiko Girl, Lakeside, and Wisdom, Impression and Sentiment – will be specially exhibited in the Collection Highlights Gallery from Monday, January 2 until Sunday, January 15.

Oil paintings of the Tokugawa shoguns, Four Heavenly Kings (Edo period, 1620; Cultural Property Registered with Taito-ku), and Twelve Heavenly Generals (Edo period, 1702) will be on view. Visitors with a Tokyo National Museum ticket stub from the same day will receive a paper talisman.
