Cultural Exchange Day for Foreign Students 2024

October 5 marks our Cultural Exchange Day. All foreign students studying in Japan will enjoy free admission to our Regular Exhibitions!
Moreover, there will be a range of special events on the day, giving you a wonderful opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Japanese culture and traditions.

 

 

Overview of Events

Participation is free of charge, though admission tickets are required for those who do not qualify for free admission. Reservations are not required.

 

Exploring the Tokyo National Museum【In easy Japanese】 Venue
Auditorium, Heiseikan (first floor)
Hours
(1) 11:00 a.m.–11:20 a.m. (Doors open at 10:45 a.m.)
(2) 2:00 p.m.–2:20 p.m. (Doors open at 1:45 p.m.)
Note: Both events share the same program.
Art Studio: Making Your Own Toggle (Netsuke) Venue
B1 Education Space, Japanese Gallery

11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. 
(Only for foreign students, ALTs, and one accompanying visitor per person. Registration is open until 11:30 a.m. However, as this event is limited to the first 50 participants, registration may close earlier.)
Note: After registration, making your netsuke will take about 10 minutes. Please leave your netsuke with the museum staff, who will then fire it in a kiln. You may collect it from the B1 Education Space between 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Admission
Foreign students studying at a Japanese school, Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs), and an accompanying visitor (limited to one per person) will all enjoy free admission to the museum's Regular Exhibitions. Please present your valid student or ALT ID when entering the museum.

【All other visitors】
Regular Exhibitions: Adults: 1,000 yen; University Students: 500 yen
* Regular admission is free for persons under 18 and over 70. Please show proof of age (driver's license, passport, etc.) when entering.
* Persons with disabilities are admitted free of charge along with one accompanying visitor. Please show official ID or other documentation.
