【Cancelled】Cherry Blossom Viewing at the Tokyo National Museum

桜アイコン Fleeting blooms and timeless art at TNM!

Cherry blossoms can only be seen for a few days each year and are a well-known symbol of spring in Japan. The annual event Cherry Blossom Viewing at the Tokyo National Museum features famous works of art celebrating cherry blossoms. During the event, visitors will also have the chance to see ten different varieties of actual cherry blossoms in the Museum garden. Make the most of springtime in Japan at the Tokyo National Museum!

Temporary Closure
In compliance with instructions from health authorities in Japan, the Tokyo National Museum announced a temporary closure from February 27 to March 16, 2020. At the request of the government, the Museum will remain closed from March 17 until further notice.
We will continue to post updates as the situation develops.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

This challenge requires visitors to answer five questions as they walk through the galleries. Visitors who answer all the questions correctly will receive a button pin featuring an original design (two designs are available). The event will be held every day during Cherry Blossom Viewing at the Tokyo National Museum.

*Quiz sheets and button pins will be available at the entrance of the Japanese Gallery (Honkan). Correctly filled-in quiz sheets can be exchanged for button pins from 10:00 a.m. to closing.

春の庭園開放
 

The Museum Garden behind the Honkan main building is open during the spring. We invite you to enjoy strolling among the five teahouses, each with their own history, as well as the cherry blossoms, which about 10 varieties bloom from one to another. The flourishing garden is most beautiful at this time of the year.

 

Springtime Opening of the Museum Garden

March 10–April 19
10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
*The garden may be closed due to bad weather.
*Certain areas of the garden may be inaccessible due to construction work.

 

Cherry Blossom Illumination
On Fridays & Saturdays during the garden’s spring opening (until 7:30 p.m.)
