The Asian Gallery of the Tokyo National Museum invites visitors on a journey through Asian art. As visitors move through the exhibition rooms, they can experience the histories and cultures of diverse periods and places, as if traveling across space and time. The annual exhibition Journey Through Asia at the Tokyo National Museum invites visitors to experience the gallery through a particular theme.

The theme for 2026 is Colorful Asia. This exhibition explores artworks through the lens of color. Visitors can discover beautiful and colorful artworks, examine the science behind pigments, uncover the technological challenges people undertook to achieve their desired colors, and even imagine color within the monochrome world of ink.
