Play Space at the Tokyo National Museum

Come and play at the museum!

The Tokyo National Museum is offering a casual play area for families. We hope children, our future leaders, will enjoy this space and leave with happy memories. We also want parents and guardians to relax, knowing their children can play here without disturbing visitors in the galleries.
At the heart of the space is a giant slide shaped like Mount Fuji, surrounded by other lucky symbols from Japanese culture. Step into Play Space at the Tokyo National Museum and discover a fun-filled environment waiting to be explored.

Here’s what you can do at Play Space with your kids:

  • Make some noise (no need to worry about disturbing other visitors!)
  • Explore, read picture books, and enjoy yourselves in any way you like
  • Take a moment to relax and unwind when you get tired of the galleries
  • Use the private baby care rooms for nursing and diaper changing
  • Use the neurodiverse calm down space if you would like some time away from Play Space

We hope international visitors will also join us:

  • English guidance and signs are available.
  • Multilingual versions of picture books are also available.
