Bowl with Peonies

Coated in a deep, reddish-brown glaze, this bowl features two peonies rendered in gold and a band of silver around the rim. Works decorated with gold and silver from China in the 1000s and 1100s were most likely used as decorative gifts rather than objects for practical use.
