Lü Ji was an illustrious bird-and-flower painter of the Ming-dynasty court (1368–1644). Active from the late 1400s to the early 1500s, his bird-and-flower paintings are representative of Ming-dynasty China. This masterpiece portrays birds and flowers full of life and vitality.
