Tea kettles are made in different standardized shapes, with this shape, called [shinnari] ("true form"), being the most standard. Surface decoration also varies, with this kettle depicting grazing and galloping horses. They are full of movement; their outlines suggest the dynamic brushwork found in ink paintings of the same period.
