Shortly after returning to Japan from his studies in France, Kuroda visited Kyoto for the first time and created this work. The robe of the [maiko] girl, who sits with her back facing the Kamo river, is rendered with colorful brushstrokes, contributing to the overall appearance of this composition, which brims with light.
