Splendours of Japan - Treasures of the Tokyo National Museum

  

Starting from March 4, 2006, Tokyo National Museum will hold an international exchange exhibition titled "Splendours of Japan - Treasures of the Tokyo National Museum" at Wellington, New Zealand. The exhibit will introduce the history of Japanese culture and five arts with 131 objects among the Museum collection, including 4 National Treasures. This will be the first exhibition in the Southern Hemisphere to overview the history of Japanese culture and fine arts. In 2007, an exhibition to introduce the culture of the Maori, the native people of New Zealand, will be held at Tokyo National Museum.

JAPAN

Starting from May 16, 2006, Tokyo National Museum will hold a special exhibition titled "JAPAN" at Pointe-a-Calliere Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History. The exhibition will introduce Japanese culture of the prehistoric and ancient times, through close to 150 objects including the Museum's collections. Based on 4 chronologic parts, Paleolithic, Jomon, Yayoi, and Kofun, this will be the first major exhibition in Canada to feature Japanese archeological objects.
