Features renowned statues, paintings, and other items from the Yakushi-ji Temple in Nara, the headquarters of the Hosso School of Buddhism. This exhibition is held to commemorate the 1300th anniversary of Heijo-kyo, established in Nara as the national capital.

France meets Japan Ukiyo-e Influence on French Ceramics

Features 19th century French ceramics, including plates and cups, created using designs based on ukiyo-e and other Japanese art. This exhibition unveils a valuable collection of works that has hitherto rarely been seen.

Dueling Geniuses — The Greatest Highlights of Japanese Artists

In an innovative approach, celebrated works of 12 pairs of great masters of Japanese art traditions, from the medieval period to the modern age, are presented as opponents in a showdown. The relationships between the "Dueling Geniuses", such as Unkei and Kaikei, and Kano Eitoku and Hasegawa Tohaku, take various forms, including teacher/student, rival, and influence. Compare and contrast these works, sense the connections between the artists, and feel as though they are competing against each other.

Cultural Heritage of Sri Lanka — The Land of Serendipity

Sri Lanka is an island nation boasting a rich cultural heritage reaching back to more than 2000 years. This exhibition features items revealing the essence of Sri Lankan culture, such as images of Buddhist figures and Hindu gods, as well as artifacts, and introduces world heritage sites and natural beauty. This is the first time the finest examples of Sri Lankan cultural heritage are exhibited on a large scale in Japan.

Featuring Rinpa masterpieces, by renowned artists such as Koetsu, Sotatsu, Korin, Kenzan, Hoitsu, and Kiitsu owned by collections in Japan and overseas, exhibited together to introduce the works of great individuality from this celebrated tradition. This exhibition is held in celebration of the 350th anniversary of the birth of Rinpa master, Ogata Korin.

This exhibition commemorates the 150th anniversary of Keio University, showcasing the founder Fukuzawa Yukichi's active involvement across a wide range of fields and the history of his school, together with artworks collected by former pupils who went on to become successful leaders in the worlds of business and industry.

Masterpieces of Zen Culture from Myoshinji

Features art treasures from Myoshinji, one of the major Zen temples in kyoto, and its sub-temples, revealing the flourishing Zen culture of each historical period, particularly from Kamakura (1192-1333) to Edo (1603-1868). This exhibition is held in association with the commemoration of the 650th memorial year of the founding priest, Muso Daishi.

The 150th Anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Commerce between France and Japan
"Story of ..." - Memories of Cartier creations

Celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Commerce between France and Japan, this exhibition displays 276 pieces from amongst the 1370 objects in the archives of Cartier, France's representative jeweller and other collections. Designer Yoshioka Tokujin will be dramatizing the stories of the various articles of jewellery.
The National Treasure ASHURA and Masterpieces from Kohfukuji

This exhibition, The National Treasure Ashura, is being held to commemorate the 1300th anniversary of Kohfukuji in Nara. The treasures of Tenpyo era (729-49) sculpture will be displayed together, including the hachibushu statues ('eight classes of divine protectors', including Ashura and Karura, all national treasures) and the '10 great disciples of Buddha' statues (6 statues still extant, all national treasures.) This is the first time these statues, all from Saikondo (the old Western Main Hall), have been displayed together outside the temple. Furthermore, this exhibition features the objects buried under the Chukondo ('Central Main Hall') to pacify the ground and Buddhist statues from the temporary Main Hall.
